- Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of forces, moments and their algebra.
- Isolate a body and create its Free Body Diagram (FBD).
- Utilize the FBD and the equations of equilibrium to solve for unknown forces and moments.
- Identify problems of static and dynamic friction, belt friction concept, apply friction concepts to solve pending motion, and steady state motion problems.
- Utilize differential masses, the concepts of equivalent systems, and integration to determine centers of gravity (CG) and/or centers of mass (CM), as well as moments of inertia.
