Linear Momentum and Impuls

Two blocks of mass mA = 3kg and mass mB = 4 kg, respectively, slide along a horizontal surface from the left to the right at velocities vA,1 = 2.0 m/s and vB,1 = 1.0 m/s. There is no friction between the blocks and the surface they are gliding along on.
Because block A starts off to the left of block B and is faster, it catches up with block B. Upon collision the two blocks stick together and glide along with the same velocity.

  1. Determine the linear momentum for each block before the collision.

  2. Determine the velocity of the two blocks after the collision.
