Velocity and Acceleration

As the arm 0B rotates around point 0 in a clockwise direction the pin A glides in the slot on 0B towards point B and upwards in the slot on bar CD towards point D. Note that bar CD is permanentely fixed to the ground at point C and remains vertical.

At a particular moment in time we know that :

  1. The value of the x-component of the absolute velocity of pin A is :

  2. The value of the x-component of the absolute acceleration of pin A is :

  3. Find the equation for the y-location of the pin as function of the distance "b" and the angle Θ.

  4. Determine the equation for the y-component of the absolute acceleration of pin A and evaluate it for the given Θ etc.

  5. Determine the equation for the distance between pin A and point B.

  6. Find the derivative of the distance A-->B with respect to time which tells as how fast pin A is approaching the end of the slot in bar 0B and evaluate it for the given Θ etc.
