Flexure Stress in Beam

The cross-section of beam shown in the figure has the following dimensions and characteristics :

ct = 1.357 cm
cb = 2.643 cm
= 9.44 cm4
The distribution of the internal moment along the axis of the beam, M(x), has been investigated for you. It was found that the internal moment M(x) varies between -600 Nm and +900 Nm.
  1. What is the maximum compressive flexural stress inside the beam ?
    Does it occur at the bottom or top of the beam ?
  2. What is the maximum tension inside the beam ?
    Does it occur at the bottom or top of the beam ?
Note : In case you forgot our sign conventions : a positive moment results in tension at the bottom and compression at the top of a beam.
